Family time...
So I have to say...it's been really hard being away from our friends in Maryville - we miss you guys! But, what has made being in New Jersey great is that we are near my family. Here's how this past weekend went.
Thursday Chris and I drove to mom's to drop off Shadow so he could stay with her for the weekend. I helped (well, tried unsuccessfully to help) her with her computer and we had pizza together.
Friday morning we headed to CT for a weekend with Dad and Katy. They both work from home so it was easy for me to spend the afternoon working and Chris to spend it studying.
Chris likes to study walking around...
Being that it was chilly and rainy, we had a very relaxing weekend, mostly just hanging out. Our big outing for the weekend was to this very cool truck museum...The Golden Age of Trucking.
Of course Chris made friends with one of the gentlemen who worked there, and he told us about this amazingly rare Cadillac. If I'm remembering correctly...it was made in 1931, only one of 5 that was shipped to England to be put together, only had 2 owners since 1931, and is worth 1.2 million dollars. Wow. And the guy popped the hood and was telling us all about it :)
Behind the very expensive Cadillac...Chris's favorite in the whole place - the tow truck :)
These (above and below) are for Darden - someone make sure he sees them :) There were a number of cool, old fire trucks and Chris kept saying, "This is what Darden wants!"
They let me take one for a test drive!!! Just kidding :) But it was cool that they had an open cab so you could see what the inside looked like.
A number of the wheels were made at Alcoa!
So, after a lovely weekend in CT we got back home just as Bub was putting together her famous eggplant parmigiana - it's the best ever. Mom came over to bring Shadow back...and bring our hangers that have been at her house since we moved here 6 weeks ago! So Bub cooked, mom helped me hang clothes, Chris played in the garage, and then we all ate together.
So, while we really miss everyone, we are thoroughly enjoying being near family.
Yes, Chris started school today and yes I took pictures. That post will be coming very soon, don't worry :)
And yes, answers to the trivia in the previous post coming soon as well.

And what about Bub's recipe for eggplant parmigiana??
I'll have to ask her and make sure it's not a secret family recipe before I post it online for the entire world to see :)
There is a tow truck museum in Chattanooga. Have you visited it? It's fun to go to.
I would love to go to that museum when we come visit. :) Maybe after the first of the year we can decide when would be a good time.
I hope all is well w/Chris's first day of school! Our fist day of homeschool was today...good day, but a little slow. :) Love and miss you!
Abby
You know your Maryville friends are always welcome to stay with me here in Dover, then they can visit the 'Big Apple' in New York and New Jersey haunts as well. There's another unique museum at the Great Falls in Paterson and several places of interest in and around Morristown... The computer is fine, having email addresses 'pop up' as I type isn't all that big a thing anyway... Wishing Chris God's best as he starts PA school today!!! :-) Have you told Jonathan and Kari about Aunt Gerry's crumb cake???
Hahahahaha....the homeschool teacher can't spell or proofread!
fist=first!
